How it feels
Every workout is the next mile.
Pick a road and every workout moves you along it, one real town at a time. Reach a town and you collect its stamp. Your group sees everyone’s miles add up on the same road, and the app shows your place: your rank, your climb this week and the next milestone.
Every active day earns Strides, the app’s points. Your road miles and Strides earn new vehicles for your Garage, from a hatchback up to a silver tube trailer or a converted school bus, and your friends see yours on the road. The Road Trip vehicles are free for everyone.

Questions
Virtual road trip challenge questions.
How long does it take to walk Route 66 virtually?
Route 66 is about 2,200 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica. Walking 3 miles a day on your own takes about two years. A group of 8 who each walk 3 miles a day reaches Santa Monica in about three months.
Can I walk across America in the app?
Yes. Pick Coast to coast, about 3,400 miles from Seattle to Miami, as your long road, or any two US towns. Every mile from any workout moves you along it, including the miles you logged before.
Can friends in different states join the same road trip?
Yes. Everyone records their own workouts wherever they live, and the miles add up on one shared road. Nobody sees where anyone else actually went.
Do bike rides count?
Yes. A bike ride counts one road mile for every three miles ridden, so riders and walkers can share a road fairly. Rows count mile for mile, and a swim counts one mile for every 400 meters.
Can I do a virtual road trip on my own?
Yes. Your long road is just for you: pick a famous road or any two US towns, and every workout moves you along it. No one else sees it, and it never uses your real location.
What happens when we reach a town?
Everyone in the group collects that town’s stamp, and the next town appears on the road.
Is it free?
Yes for up to 15 people. Ironstride is free to download, and the Road Trip style is free. Other styles are optional one-time packs.
